On Saturday 22nd November 2014 representatives of the Friends of St Cross attended Rugby Town FC’s game with Leighton Town to announce changes to the Blue Chip Lottery that mean that the Charity now receives even more from the scheme.
Mike Yeats, Director of the club explained that “We got together with the Friends some time ago to show our support for the charity and when we heard about the Diamond Jubilee appeal we decided to see what we could do to help even more. As a result we have increased the amount we donate to the charity to 50% which is approximately double the percentage that some of the national lotteries give to good causes."
Willy Goldschmidt, Communications Lead for the Friends said “in addition to re-launching we raised £89 in a collection from the spectators at the match which Rugby Town won 2-1 – so a great result all round! "
Unfortunately, in November 2015 Rugby Town FC found that the scheme was no longer viable and it was decided to close the scheme.
The Friends would like to thank the club for their support over the years
