One of the last donations of equipment made in 2014 was a set of arthroscopy instruments which are used to help stabilise shoulder joints during surgery.
Charge Nurse Francis Millan said “this new equipment means that we can undertake even more shoulder surgery at St Cross.”
Willy Goldschmidt, Communications Lead for the Friends said “we understand that approximately 70% of all elective orthopedic operations for patients from Rugby and Coventry are now carried out at St Cross and the Friends are always keen to support initiatives which bring more services to St Cross. Of course we can only do this thanks to the generosity of the community and the support for our Diamond Jubilee Appeal has meant that we can continue to make donations of this type whilst committing to the major project to relocate the Blood Taking Unit.”
