Ashleigh King and Clare Noden with the new patient supports.

The Friends of St Cross have donated two new patient supports for use in Oak Ward.

The supports are designed to make the process of standing and sitting as easy as possible for both the person and the carer and are especially useful during  rehabilitation as it uses the natural movements in sitting and standing for people who still have the ability to stand but require their strength improving.

Clare Noden, Oak Ward Manager, explained “When patients are well enough to return home, and have appropriate care and support in place, they may need aids to help them transfer from sitting to standing or vice versa and these aids are the ones which the Warwickshire County Council's Equipment Service issues to patients and their carers to use at homes in Warwickshire. Thanks to the generosity of The Friends we now have two devices which we can keep on the wards and use to help patients and their carers become familiar with the aids before going home.”
