Barr group made a donation of £100 to the friends

The main contractors for the re-development of the Elliott’s Field retail park have donated £100 and the Circus supported the Appeal.

Matthew Welstead, Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility Coorrdinator of Barr Construction, is pictured presenting the cheque to Heather Green, Chairperson of the Friends. Matthew said “we like to make a positive impact on the community that we are working in and chose to make this donation to the Friends charity because of its local proximity and the great support they provide to the hospital.” So far the team at Elliott’s Field have also supported Hope 4 with assistance in redecorating their new premises and are on the lookout for other local charities to support and Matthew will be doing a charity run for Mind in April!

The Charles Chipperfield Circus also thanked the Friends and the NHS. Martyn Williams, Project Manager for the Circus, explained “We are delighted to support the Friends, which we understand is the Mayor’s Charity, by holding a collection at both performances on Friday 20th March. In addition, my family and the entire company is especially grateful for the excellent treatment and service we have had from the NHS in recent times and would like to say thank you to all NHS staff and their families." Staff showing their NHS IDs at the booking office were able to buy half price tickets for any of the performances between the 18th and 22nd of March other than the performances on Friday the 20th which were discounted for all. The collection raised a magnificent £168.

Meanwhile the Friends have been nominated by customers of both ASDA and the Nationwide Building Society to be one of three potential recipients of their charity donations. Supporters can be Diamonds and vote for the Friends in the local store and the local branch at any time up until the end of March.

Willy Goldschmidt, Communications Lead for the Friends, said “It is fantastic that we have received so much support from the business community from far and wide and look forward to hearing from other local businesses who would like to support he Charity and the fabulous staff at St Cross.”
