Two pillars of the community have announced that they are combining to give the Appeal another boost with a Spring Concert to be held in the St Andrews Parish Church at 7:30pm on Saturday the 18th of April.
St Andrews Church and the Rugby Male Voice Choir independently gave their support to the Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal at Christmas.
St Andrews Church hosted the Festival of Christmas Trees. This year over 45 local businesses and organisations provided a tree decorated in a theme appropriate to them and a collection was held in support of the Friends. Reverend Imogen Nay recently presented the Charity with a cheque for £400 and explained that “the Christmas Tree Festival Committee is appointed by the Parish Church Council and each year the committee chooses a local charity which has the support of local people who donate money to the Festival.”
The Friends tree was decorated with crystals to represent the Charity’s Diamond Jubilee and was topped with a crown which reflected the award of the Queens’s Award for Voluntary Services. There was also a roundel with the Pride of Rugby Award and blue lights for the NHS!
The Rugby Male Voice Choir held its annual Christmas Concert in support of the Mayor’s Charity, which this year is the Friends of St Cross, and they presented a cheque for £924 to the Mayor at one of their rehearsals for the Spring Concert.
In addition to the Choir there will be guest performances by Kevin Downham and Melanie Green.
