New Bariatric plinths are delivered to Out Patients.
When the Friends of St Cross were asked if they could donate a new bariatric treatment plinth for Dermatology in Out Patients the response was “do you not need one for Physiotherapy as well?” and it was not long before one was delivered for each department!
Kate Stevenson, Outpatients Physio Team Leader, said “The new plinths are ideal for bariatric patients as they are that bit wider and sturdier than the standard plinth which the Friends donated last year. They are more comfortable and come with side rails which makes them safer for patients and staff when patients move onto their sides.”
Tina Hardiman, Sister in Charge of Out Patients, said “The team in dermatology were delighted to receive this donation from the Friends as they are seeing an increasing number of bariatric patients with skin disorders and the standard plinths are not as suitable for their treatment as they do not provide the same level of support. The new plinths have an extra adjustable section which is a great help for positioning patients. With the assistance from the Friends we are able to provide an improved local service which we know is much appreciated by our staff and our patients.”
