Another example of community support was when the Ladies Prayer Group at the Rugby Indian Association in Edward Street recently invited Joan Jesson and Heather Green, the President and Chairperson of the Friends of St Cross, to one of their meetings
and presented the ladies with donations totalling £721 for the Friends of St Cross Diamond Jubilee Appeal. The money was raised by these ladies who meet every Monday to pray and raise money for charity. Joan and Heather were made very welcome and were able to visit the Hindu temple which is beautifully decorated and to listen to the start of their prayers and music.
The group donated money for a bed in the hospital some time ago and told Heather and Joan that they were keen to support the Appeal as many of them use the blood taking service.
