Patients undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation can now use upgraded treadmills as part of their exercise programme at the Hospital of St Cross.
Jo Holdsworth, Cardiac Rehab Manager, said “These treadmills replace ones donated by the Friends of St Cross nine years ago which were becoming a bit tired!! The new machines are not only more sophisticated but are closer to the ground and so less of a trip hazard. The Cardiac Rehab programme offers 20 free sessions to people who have recently suffered a ‘heart event’ and now offers classes for patients suffering from ‘heart failure’. The team also offers additional sessions for former patients and so the demands on the equipment are constantly increasing. The majority of equipment used in the gym has been donated by the Friends of St Cross and we are most grateful for their ongoing support.”
