Film fans are in for a treat after a generous donation was presented to the Friends of the Hospital of St Cross. A selection of DVDs have been provided by Technicolor, based on the Swift Valley Industrial Estate in Rugby.

The movies will be available on wards for patients to enjoy while a DVD library will be created for hard-working staff to take advantage of in their spare time.

Janine Beddow, Site Manager at the Hospital of St Cross, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Technicolor for this lovely donation. The kindness, support and generosity shown by our communities have been overwhelming.”

Technicolor Site Director Fran Beaton, HR manager Jacqui Harrison (who has previously supported the Festive Befriending Initiative at the hospital) and Quality and Health and Safety Controller Kelly Clifton came up with the idea.

Fran said: “The whole team at Technicolor has a great affinity for the hospital and greatly admire the work of the Friends of St Cross. Everybody in Rugby has either personally or knows someone who has benefitted from the hospital and we are planning to support the Friends Sapphire Anniversary Appeal with some fundraising activities as soon as we can.”

Willy Goldschmidt, Chairman of The Friends of St Cross, added: “It was great to meet the Technicolor team and to welcome them to the group of organisations and volunteers who have supported St Cross throughout the pandemic.

“Their generous donation will make a huge difference to patients and staff during these unusual times and beyond.”

The Friends are aiming to raise at least £65,000 this year as part of its Sapphire Anniversary Appeal. All money will be used to benefit the Hospital of St Cross and the Community Nursing Service in Rugby.
