On the 4th of September 2024, The Friends welcomed some 62 members and guests to the 69th AGM to celebrate another year of outstanding support for the Hospital in Rugby.
We are calling for more volunteers
We need some 20 volunteers to re-establish our Patient Visiting Service and expand our Mealtime Companion and Meet and Greet Services.
New approach speeds up the process for hip and knee replacement at St Cross
A £39,000 donation of equipment by The Friends has helped to enable hip and knee replacement patients to be cared for even more quickly, safely and efficiently.
New ultrasound facility opens at St Cross
The Friends donation of equipment costing £70,000 enables 4,000 more procedures per year!
The Mayor's Special Appreciation Award
The Mayor of Rugby presented two Special Appreciation Awards to the Trustees at our Black Tie Dinner Dance.

A dull wall facing the ward has been transformed with colourful murals.

New mobility aids help patients move from sitting to standing at the early stage of their therapy.

The Friends conitnue to support the Maple Unit with donations of scalp cooling haircare kits.

A leg press provides extra support for strengthening patient legs.

The Friends and the community say Thank You NHS
Last year the Friends of St Cross matched funds received from the organisers of the Heroes Ball and matched the funds to donate mugs and a Christmas lunch for the team at St Cross.
Helping patients breath more easily
The Friends have recently supported the Community Nursing Service in Rugby with a donation of six nebulizers which will benefit patients suffering from asthma or other lung conditions.
Friends inject support for pain relief in Outpatients
The Friends of St Cross have donated the latest ultrasound guided pain relief injection equipment which is set to benefit patients attending the Outpatients department at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby.
The Friends donate an extra Arm for surgeons at St Cross
Surgeons operating at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby are delighted to have taken delivery of a Mini C-Arm X-ray device for use in surgery on patients’ hands or feet.
Latest Carpal Tunnel release surgery comes to St Cross
The Friends of St Cross have donated two sets of equipment required to perform Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Releases (eCTR) to the operating theatres at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby.

The Friends of St Cross have marked an historical milestone after reaching £4 million in donations to benefit the NHS and patient care in Rugby.
A sophisticated scanner will help diagnose glaucoma
The Glaucoma team at the Hospital of St Cross has recently taken delivery of an Ocular Coherance Tomography (OCT) Scanner which enables Ophthalmic Technicians to examine patients and produce a report for a consultant to assess whether or not they require specialist intervention or regular monitoring of their condition.

Joe Greenwell CBE DL, The High Sheriff of Warwickshire, attended the Friends Board meeting, on Zoom on the 8th of March 2021, and presented the Charity with a High Sheriff's Award.
