Rugby Male Voice Choir Spring Concert raises £750
Over one hundred supporters enjoyed a superb a Spring Concert given by Rugby Male Voice Choir in St Andrews Parish Church on the 18th of April 2015.
Friends equipment donations top £3m
We have published our Gift Lists on this page and, with that, have recorded that a grand total of £3,111,523 has been spent, since the charity was founded in 1955, on equipment donations and support for projects at the Hospital of St Cross and the Community and Mental Health Services in Rugby.
Sixth Form Students support the Appeal
Three sixth form students from Lawrence Sheriff School got together recently to raise £187 for the Friends of St Cross Diamond Jubilee Appeal.
Rugby Hindu Temple supports the Appeal
On the 13th of March the Mayor invited members of Shree Kalyan Mandal (Rugby Hindu Temple) to the Mayor’s Parlour and to view the Council Chambers where the group presented him with a cheque for £501 for the Mayor’s Charity which is the Friends of St Cross.
The Friends presents RMVC Spring Concert
Two pillars of the community have announced that they are combining to give the Appeal another boost with a Spring Concert to be held in the St Andrews Parish Church at 7:30pm on Saturday the 18th of April.
Out of town businesses support the friends
The main contractors for the re-development of the Elliott’s Field retail park have donated £100 and the Circus supported the Appeal.
Local Pub and businesses support the Appeal
Staff and customers of the Merchants Inn have been supporting the Charity since the launch of the Appeal last June. Since then they have raised over £500 through a mixture of activities including Quiz Nights, raffles and collecting tins on the bar!
Long distance runners support the appeal
Father and son Les and Lee-Anthony New have teamed up to raise money for the Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal.
Thurlaston Ladies Club support the appeal
Members of Thurlaston Ladies Club invited Tony Cousins from the Friends of St Cross Roadshow team to their village church hall to be presented with a cheque for £400 towards the Diamond Jubilee Appeal.
New diagnostic service for St Cross
The Friends have donated a new piece of diagnostic equipment that brings a service for patients with some sleeping disorders to the Hospital of St Cross.
Friends support extension of elective surgery at St Cross
Surgeons and theatre staff at St Cross have taken delivery of specialist patient supports for use in hip operations.
The Rotary Club makes another large donation
At the Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club Burns Night on 27th January the Friends of St Cross was presented with a cheque for £2,700 for the Diamond Jubilee Appeal to add to the £2,000 which had already been donated last June.

On 12th January 2015 the Appeal total received reached £40,034 thanks to recent donations made by Bilton Methodist Church, and Aphrodite Beauty and Spa.
The Friends help extend shoulder operations at St Cross
One of the last donations of equipment made in 2014 was a set of arthroscopy instruments which are used to help stabilise shoulder joints during surgery.
The Friends raffle raises 3 times expected
2014’s Christmas Raffle was drawn, in Out Patients in the Hospital of St Cross on Friday 19th December, and exceeded all hopes and expectations by raising a staggering £2,727, which is approximately 3 times the average amount achieved in recent years.
The Friends donate a new heavy duty bed for the hospital
The Friends of St Cross have donated a special hospital bed which can be adjusted to suit the needs of taller and heavier patients.
Bella's Buddies raise an impressive £840 for the Friends
On Sunday 7th December , three supporters and their dog completed the 5k UHCW Charity Jingle Jog at Ryton Pools and have raised £840 so far in aid of the Appeal.
St Andrews Christmas Tree Festival supports the Friends
On Thursday 4th December Friends Committee Members, Tracey Lennard and Kathryn Lawrence decorated a tree for the Festival of Christmas Trees at St Andrews Church.

Comfy New Chairs donated to the UCC
The Friends of St Cross have donated four new chairs which will help to improve the patient experience at the Urgent Care Centre.
Friends to receive even more donations from the Bluechip Lottery
On Saturday 22nd November 2014 representatives of the Friends of St Cross attended Rugby Town FC’s game with Leighton Town to announce changes to the Blue Chip Lottery that mean that the Charity now receives even more from the scheme.

Bowls Assosciation donate £1700
On Monday 24th November Heather Green and Willy Goldschmidt attended the AGM of the Warwickshire Women’s Bowls Association and were presented with a cheque for £1,700.
The Friends raise another £880 for the Appeal
On Saturday the 15th November, the Friends held a Christmas Bazaar at Arnold House in the town centre and the appeal fund is rapidly closing in on halfway to its initial target of raising at least £60,000!
St Cross Savers and the Coventry make a donation
Thanks to the support and generosity of the many holders of the St Cross Saver Account the Friends of St Cross have received another massive donation from the Coventry Building Society.
New Equipment for Infirm Patients
Oak Ward at St Cross has recently received eight new movement detecting pads which are known as ‘falls monitors’.

In October, Friends supporters attended a superb luncheon at Ferguson’s restaurant in the town centre.
Clock Towers Book Sale Success
We had great support at the Book Sale in Clock Towers on Saturday 4th October at which we raised a magnificent £185. We also launched our Christmas Raffle Ticket on the day and many people commented that we have some bumper prizes this year.

The Urgent Care Centre at St Cross has recently taken delivery of some high seat chairs and adjustable foot rests donated by the Friends of St Cross.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation service has recently taken delivery of some more new equipment donated by the Friends of St Cross.
Darts League donate £750
On 26th September the Charity received a cheque for £750 from the Rugby Darts Summer League. Chairperson, Heather Green is pictured along with representatives of Teenage Cancer Trust, Myton Hospice and Pawprints Dog Rescue who also received cheques from the league.
Debbie wins an OSCA!
The superb work that the whole team at St Cross does for patients was recognised at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Outstanding Service and Care Awards Celebration (the OSCAs) held in Coventry on the 19th of September.
Runners raise over £1,000
Four runners from the Warwickshire Pathology Network, which provides the Blood Taking Service at St Cross, took part in the Run for Rotary at Draycote Water on the 28th of September 2014.
Coffee mornings raise over £1,000
Volunteers organised 3 coffee mornings in September and raised an amazing £1,056 for the Diamond Jubilee Appeal!
New chairs suit patient needs
Thirty six bedside chairs have been delivered to several wards at St Cross.
Tesco customers of all ages support the Appeal
The Charity’s fundraising activities continued with a cash collection at Tesco’s store on the Leicester Road which took place on the 5th and 6th of September.
Yoga centre supports the Mayor's Charity
Another community group which has chosen to support The Friends, through the Mayor’s Charity, is the Shree Kaylan Yog Kendra which is the Indian community yoga group which meets at the Rugby Temple in Kimberley Road.
Scenic Cruise raises £960
79 Volunteers and supporters went on a 1 hour scenic cruise on the Avon followed by a pub lunch at The Bear Inn. The event was so popular we had to order 2 extra coaches and an additional boat!
New physiotherapy couches for Out Patients
A recent equipment donation of two two-section adjustable physiotherapy couches has been delivered to the clinic in Out Patients at St Cross.
Railwaymens Club donation
The Railwaymen’s Club in Hillmorton Road have donated a magnificent £618 to The Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal.
Take Heart Group support the appeal
Members of Take Heart Cardiac Exercise Club donated £200 to the Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal.
Help to get patients walking
The Friends recently donated two Atlas frame walkers which help patients regain mobility after a stroke or an operation.
The Mayor joined our team of collectors at Sainsburys
The Mayor came along to join our team of collectors at Sainsburys where we raised a fabulous £574 to add to our Diamond Jubilee Appeal. Many thanks to all the staff and customers.
Cuddly toy named Enid supports the Appeal!
Ladies from Ball of Yarn, a local group of knitters, auctioned some sample yarn and donated the £20 proceeds to the Appeal and have now offered to knit a menagerie for the ‘Name the cuddly toy’ fundraisers. The first Teddy was named at the Merchants Inn Pub Quiz on Monday 28th July and raised £40 in the process!
New surgical instruments
The Friends continue to support St Cross while appealing for the Diamond Jubilee Appeal and have recently donated 3 sets of surgical instruments one set of which is pictured being examined by some of the theatre staff.
Bluebell Lounge - a new place for patients with dementia to relax
The Bluebell Lounge, opened on 23rd May 2014 to celebrate national Dementia Awareness Week, has been designed for patients with confusion and/or dementia, their relatives, carers and accompanying staff members to come and take time out.
We help check unborn baby heartbeats
The Medical Engineering and Bioengineering Service (MEBS) at St Cross has recently taken delivery of a foetal heart simulator which enables the technicians to calibrate heart monitors used by midwives at their clinics or home visits.
Jamesway Travel - support our appeal
On 28th June Jamesway Travel became the first major business supporter of the Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal presenting an initial cheques £500 respectively.
Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club donation
On 17th June the Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club became the first major community supporters of the Friends Diamond Jubilee Appeal presenting an initial cheque for £2,000 and said that this is only the beginning of their support.
The Woolscott Eight raised another £2820
Tracey Lennard and her team have raised another fabulous £2,820 for the Friends by holding the first ever Wild West Hoe Down at Castle Keep in Woolscott.
