Thirty three volunteers and supporters braved some inclement weather to take part in a fascinating visit to the Black Country Living Museum.
The outing included a canal boat ride through tunnels into the mines on the site. Some also walked down the slope into the drift mine while others had a relaxing time in the pub and museum. The outing was organised by Tracey Lennard and her team and raised £413 for the Charity.
Tracey’s team are now getting set for another event at Castle Keep on the 1st of October when local singers Cavatina will be performing songs from west end shows. The event will be especially poignant as it will also be held in memory of Julie Gordon who recently passed away and was a stalwart of Tracey’s team for 16 years and will be lovingly remembered for many things including the choreography she arranged for many of the dances the team organised.
Willy Goldschmidt, Chairman of the Friends of St Cross, said “The Charity is already planning how to spend the funds these events raise and is in discussion with the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Trust which manages the Hospital of St Cross as to how we might support projects which bring new or expanded services to Rugby. We hope to be able to make an announcement about these in the next month or two.”
