We are aiming to raise at least £65,000 so that we can continue making a difference for patients attending the Hospital of St Cross and the NHS Community Service in Rugby. We will publish, here and on social media, some reminders of the support you have enabled us to provide and some of the donations we receive towards the Appeal. Due to the pandemic the appeal was not launched until 1st October 2020 and will run until December 2021. Click here to donate!!

The Friends  conitnue to support the Maple Unit with donations of scalp cooling haircare kits.

Scalp CoolingScalp cooling is a treatment that can help to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy and provides cancer patients with the only real alternative to this devastating side effect.  It is widely recognised that chemotherapy-induced hair loss is one of the most traumatic side effects associated with cancer treatment and can have a significant emotional impact on many patients.  It can be an unwanted reminder of their disease, can compromise their self-image, and many people would simply like to maintain their hair.

The scalp cooling kit pictured was donated when the Maple Unit was opened in 2021

The haircare kits donated since then provide patients with shampoo and conditioner that is deisgned for sensitive skin.
